Sharing Data with the Panorama Enterprise Server Fri. Nov. 3, 10a-5p instructor: James Rea, founder of ProVUE Development, Chief designer of Panorama. During this all day seminar you will learn how to use the new Panorama Enterprise Server to share data on local networks and over the Internet. You'll learn how to create multi-user sharable Panorama databases and how to publish Panorama database information dynamically on the web. Unlike traditional client server database systems, the Panorama Enterprise Server uses a distributed data approach to leverage the processing power in both the server and the client. Queries, reports and sorting are all handled on the client itself using Panorama's ultra fast RAM based technology, reducing both network traffic and server load while dramatically improving response times. Data modification is coordinated thru the server with full record locking for on-line clients. A unique feature is the ability for mobile clients to work off-line with automatic synchronization when a network connection is available -- ideal for field workers with intermittent network access. The Panorama Enterprise Server adjusts to any scale and can work on a local network or over the Internet using standard HTTP protocol. Major topics covered in this session will include: * Installing and Configuring the Enterprise Server * Server administration options * Creating multi-user databases * Optimizing multi-user performance * Using shared databases in a mobile environment * Adding web publishing capabilities to an existing database $325.00

Discovering affordable 3D tools for 2D minds with Carrara Friday Nov. 3 2p-5p Instructor: Philip Staiger is the founder and owner of TheBest3D.com, In this lecture style class, graphic designers and artists who focus on Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Flash have only occasional need for 3D renderings in their projects. High-end tools like Maya or Lightwave, 3DS Max and Cinema may well be out of their budgets or scope of interest. However, there are a few programs that are perfectly suited to the occasional pro illustrator, as well as the hobbyist. One such product is Carrara, successor to Raydream, which was once the most popular entry-level 3D program, also found in some form inside CorelDraw. Carrara is both very affordably priced (at a fraction of Photoshop CS) and easy and fun to learn and use. It's available for Mac and PC, and it is one of the few 3D tools you'll even see offered for sale at the Adobe Photoshop Plugins online store. It offers the perfect mix of tools for beginners and advanced users, so it may well be the only 3D tool you ever need, but nonetheless it plays very well with other tools such as Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator,Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro, and other popular 3D tools such as Lightwave and Poser. In this class you'll get a good look at the most important tools and features that make Carrara a great way to discover the next dimension. You'll learn how to create beautiful atmospheric vistas, mountain scenes and terrains, plants and trees, and create your own 3D models in various ways including polygonal modeling with subdivision, Spline modeling, metaballs, booleans and 3D text. You'll also see how powerful the shaders are, how create animations and take it all the way to Hollywood style special fx. If you want to see examples of what's possible start here: www.thebest3d.com/carrara and look here too: www.icebergthemovie.com - where Carrara was used intensely (also at www.markusrothkranz.com ) $125.00
